about

I am a senior-level UX designer with over nine years of experience creating user-centric web based solutions. My goal is to serve as mediator between user needs, business objectives and technical viability, demonstrating the value of interaction design in the development process of user interfaces.

In 2008 I received my BA degree in Art and Technology with specialization in Interaction Design at Saxion Universities of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. Before I relocate myself to Rio de janeiro, I have worked for some of the major players of the Dutch IT market.

I am passionate about everything related to design. Questions like how the web is moving and how to engage users efficiently are constantly on my mind. I'm interested in the edge where society and technology meet each other and start talking, in emerging technologies and in original methodologies on how to design usable web applications centered on the user.

Things I do

Design Strategy & Documentation

I help to develop interactive products with concern about end-user and global management objectives. Working closely with stakeholders I help defining an overall picture, a model for the project. From the defined strategy, a full information architecture plan is produced including functional specification.

Interaction Design

This is certainly what I do the most, and to be honest, what I do the best. At least half of the work is about defining how the user will interact with the product. I define sitemaps and navigation flows, sketch wireframes, produce the visual design and develop Lo/Hi fidelity prototypes.

Team leading & Front-end

Besides interaction designing, I can lead the wizard developers, based on the agile methodology, to turn out a fully, living, breathing product. I also do some front-end coding (XHTML & CSS), cross browser testing, and still care about accessibility issues.

Site Evaluations

Several usability evaluation methods can be applied to better help tackle your revamp or complete redesign of an existing product. These will help point out what is going right as well as how a product can be improved.

Usability Testing

When all has been said and done, and a fully functioning prototype is running, I highly recommend putting the finished product in front of end users to validate choices made early on in the process.

Project Management

During the last years, I have successful experienced dealing with planning, high-profile clients, budgets, schedules and multi-disciplinary team effort in international projects context.

Teaching

Bring some water to someone and he won't be thirsty for a day. Teach to him how to find water and he won't be thirsty for the rest of his life. My goal isn't to keep all this knowledge to myself but to share a few things I know in order to improve our lives.
